When emerging pidgin or doing world update, portage states that pidgin is masked or dont exist, which it does exist and it is not masked on my settings. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.emerge --sync 2.emerge pidgin 3.or emerge -uD world Actual Results: Calculating world dependencies \ !!! Ebuilds for the following packages are either all !!! masked or don't exist: net-im/pidgin ... done! Expected Results: to either upgrade pidgin or not give error
Reopen with emerge --info and `grep -Rni net-im/pidgin /etc/portage` output.

(In reply to comment #2) > Gentoo nowens # emerge --info | `grep -Rni net-im/pidgin /etc/portage` How did (English) "and" turn into a pipe so suddenly? Jakub asked for the output of both # emerge --info and # grep -Rni net-im/pidgin /etc/portage

One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request: - net-im/pidgin-2.1.0 (masked by: ~x86 keyword) - net-im/pidgin-2.0.2 (masked by: ~x86 keyword) For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page or refer to the Gentoo Handbook.
Please, read some docs on working with portage. net-im/pidgin is NOT stable anywhere, of course you'll get this message unless you stick it to package.keywords. http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml?part=3
