You'll need to complain upstream, not to us. This is what you get w/ SVN mplayer snapshots.

I'm sure it is, but then "1.0.20070622-r1" isn't.  Would it not make more sense to patch the version output with Gentoo's version number for consistency?

A user shouldn't need to check the system's package manager to find out what version of a tool they're using.
