Description Tim Nelson 2007-08-03 12:24:33 UTC
Hardware:
Gigabyte G33M Mobo, Link: http://tw.giga-byte.com/Support/Motherboard/FAQ_Model.aspx?ClassValue=Motherboard&ProductID=2600&ProductName=GA-G33M-S2H

Intel Q6600 @3Ghz
8 Gigs Mushkin DDR2 @ 1000Mhz 5-5-7-23
2 WD Raptor 150's Raid 0
1 WD 250 Gig
1 Lite-On DVD/CDRW Combo
Nvidia 8800 GTX Stock Clock

Above is a link to my motherboard which I think is the culprit behind my problem. When booting the livecd it goes through and loads the Controller Drivers for AHCI, Promise etc. Immediately after is states there is no available mount point, waiting for other media. After that it asks me to give a location for (boot). I have tried multiple livecd's IE about 10. Either I see nothing or I get to the same point. I am not sure if my motherboard's controller is even supported by the livecd as of yet. I can disable the RAID option in the bios and go with AHCI or none, in the end I get the same message everytime. I am about to work around using a thumbdrive, just wanted to see if there is anything that can be done. I wish I could provide the hardware to test it on since not many people use MicroATX. I have also put stock clocks in place to see if that was causing any issues, shouldn't be since I am running my box with a watercooler. Either way, same issue for all distros. I use gentoo though and this won't stop me from installing it. Also, could there be a thumbdrive release next go around? Thanks in advance.

Tim

I have also moved the livecd's to a thumbdrive and I get the same errors. I am sure it is not my dvd drive now.

No, you aren't. The LiveCD will not boot from a thumb drive unless you format the drive as ext2/ext3.

I got the thumbdrive to boot and work.

Anyhow, the problem was blocksize. I only had burnable DVD's being that I am in Iraq, I burned a CD ISO to it. oops.
