Description Martin Schwier 2007-08-02 08:17:58 UTC
Hi! Is there any reason why the libnotify useflag isn't set by default in the default-linux/<arch>/2007.0/desktop profile?

I think libnotify is inevitable for a good gnome desktop experience (mainly gnome-power-manger makes use of it). Actually I don't see a reason why this is an optional useflag at all.

Profiles are not maintained by Gnome; plus there's enough crap already in the default profiles as it is.

This belongs to gentoo-dev mailing list, please take it there. ;)

Sorry for choosing the wrong component for this bug. I thought this could be discussed in the gnome herd and I don't understand why such a simple issue should be taken to the gnome-dev list. I'm a user and I'm not subscribed to the -dev list (although I'm reading it via gmane). I think a bugtracker is exactly for this kind of issues.

And please: enough crap being already in the default profiles is not a very good reason for one particular useflag not beeing in.

As said above - bloating default profiles even more goes to gentoo-dev mailing list, so that people could comment. I for one am already annoyed enough by the nonsense being added there, such as USE=kerberos or USE=ldap.
