Shem Multinymous published a new version a short while ago. The main feature of 0.32 is a reduced number of timer interrupts on tickless kernels. Requires kernel 2.6.19, works with 2.6.22. Earlier kernel users can safely stay with tp_smapi-0.31
Created attachment 126560 [details] ebuild suggestion for 0.32 Basically, renaming 0.32 and adding check for 2.6.19 works.
what about integrating the hdaps_protect patch, so that disc head parking from userspace (via hdapsd) is possible???
(In reply to comment #2) > what about integrating the hdaps_protect patch, so that disc head parking from > userspace (via hdapsd) is possible??? The patch is huge. And it would require to recompile the kernel and to reboot to be of any effect. And most thinkpad-owners already know that they need to patch the kernel to get the goodies. IMHO such a patch with tp_smapi would only make things more complicated.
sorry, didn't had a closer look into the patchfile... I're right, about the size & complexity of the patch. maybe the patch will be integrated into the gentoo patchset some time...
The patch was included include app-laptop/hdapsd Use "emerge --config hdapsd" to enable it. However, hdapsd has to be updated as well (try search for another bug report), to be able to use the new udev function in 0.32. See the following link for details: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/HDAPS#Userspace_daemon
Bumped, closing.
