Ghostscript 7.05.6-r1 ebuild has both gimp-print and gimp-print-cups in its dependency list. These two conflict. ;) cups? ( || ( gimp-print gimp-print-cups ) )
It also fails if you don't have pkg-config installed. Pkgconfig should be added to the depend list as well.
Woops. Last comment's for gimp-print-cups. Never submit at 6am.
I was wondering why it wanted to install X on my server ;-)
I would urge for this bug's severity/priority to be raised because this is rather broken at this point. I don't want to install gimp on this machine, but through a ghostscript depend loop, I am forced to: I need the cups flag for kde, which in turn needs ghostscript, which uses the cups flag to shove gimp-print (which of course requires gimp and all its glory). This could be easily solved if portage had per-package use flag support (bug 13616), but alas, that is not the case. In the mean time I can't update world because I really don't want to have all this clutter installed just to upgrade ghostscript.
will have a look .. sorry for the delay there was a problem with the mail alias so i didn't get the Bugzilla mails
You could have a look at bug #19937. I sent an updated ebuild to solve the problem. It now enables gimp-print support only if you have gimp-print* installed. Prethanks for looking and saying what you think about it. ;-) http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=19937
fixed in next version.
ghostscript-7.05.6-r3 now in portage ...
