Does the 2.0 driver work? Please reopen when you reply.
(In reply to comment #4) > Does the 2.0 driver work? Please reopen when you reply. > The 2.0 driver work, but not very well:The virtual screen is wider than the physical one, and when I try to tune mode-line by xvidtune(narrower), it says not support the new mode-line. Btw, I retry the 2.1.0 driver, still a black screen. But when I press the Enter Key,the screen turns white -> red -> green -> blue -> white -> white -> grey -> grey -> (finally)black automatically.

Do you have a CRT connected or not ? Because with the new driver it's got new features, that it thinks your CRT is 1152x768 and your LCD is 1024x768. So when it configures the screens you'll get clone mode with additional panning to 1152x768 on your LCD. Basically, the xorg.conf file has changed to accomodate the new outputs. You may want to look at the new intel man page on how to disable the VGA output, if you haven't got one connected, or you can emerge the new xrandr tool and try xrandr --output VGA --off xrandr --output LVDS --auto which should get you back to 1024x768. But this is more X configuration than a gentoo fault. Hope that helps, if it does - can you close.

Can you log a bug on bugs.freedeskt.org for xorg, and mark the intel driver as the problem. This really isn't a gentoo fault. Thanks.
that should have been bugs.freedesktop.org.
It seems the next release of this driver will address this problem.(The manual on http://intellinuxgraphics.org/man.html mentions some related options that not avaliable now)
Reopening for proper resolution
This is an upstream issue; please reopen when an upstream release has fixed it.
In https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13308 (comment 5) there is a patch for xorg-server that fixes the black screen issue for my 855gm. See https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10723 as well.
