Description nobody 2003-04-02 15:06:59 UTC
Following the installation documentation i was stuck while trying to install a
stage1 gentoo...
Editing of resolve.conf to change DNS...
(I skip this part gentoo found my router and DNS)
Editing make.conf to customize the install...
I have finally abort the install cause i couldn't change the default server to a
mirror one faster for me...

So please, tell me how i can EDIT this file with the tools provide by gentoo-cds
at this stage ???
(i have finally found VI after breaking the install, but was unable to edit the
make.conf with that editor who uses martians keys to browse, edit, modify a file)...

The install documentation describe clearly how to get the file with lynx AND how
to browse into lynx to get the stage1 file... I just want the same for VI (or
any other editor i could use to change files as request)

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Try to edit a file at early install stage when you are a rooky
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Ctrl+C
halt

Expected Results:
gentoo running :)

try using a program called 'nano'

In section "10.Setting Gentoo optimizations (make.conf)", just before section
"11.Starting from Stage1", it clearly states to use the command:

nano -w /etc/make.conf

to edit the make.conf file. Perhaps the document wasn't read carefully or this
user has an older document? Either way, I'm closing this bug.
