Hi,

i think you have a Problem with your gcc and/or binutils, did you shortly updated one or both of these Packages?

>C compiler cannot create executables

Please, do it.
Comment 4 Ben Bullard 2007-07-23 19:12:38 UTC
Yes, I had a problem with gcc resulting in the errors:

gcc-config error: Could not run/locate "x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc"
on some packages and:

configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables
on others. I beleive I've corrected by running:

# gcc-config -f x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-4.2.0
# source /etc/profile
# emerge gcc

Now some packages will emerge but not this one. Now I get error:

SlideShow plugin needs OpenGL support. This plugin will not be compiled!
To complile this plugin, please install OpenGL support

I have opengl installed so I don't know what they mean. At any rate this probably means this isn't a bug but something I need to learn. So administrator feel free to do whatever is appropriate with this but report.

My I apologies if I incorrectly filed a bug report. I haven't done bug reports much and will try to better in the future. I have in this process learned some more through ways to research a problem before filing. But on the other hand I am a raw Gentoo newbie.

Will use IRC to sort this out. Again, apologies.

Jakub, this should be correct file. My mistake.
Comment 6 Ben Bullard 2007-07-23 19:36:58 UTC
What do they mean by OpenGl support? I have opengl installed and working.

Post your emerge --info as well.

emerge --info

Jakub, apologies. I'm a Gentoo newbie. I'll learn from this. To file a proper ebuild bug report include:

1.Complete error from emerge command.
2.emerge --info
3./var/tmp/portage/portagelocation/packagename/temp/build.log

Uhm... Sabayon bugs don't go to Gentoo.
