I have 50ish servers on about 10 different locations with this setting in make.conf as per recommendations: SYNC="rsync://rsync.europe.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" and the first server to resolve for most of the attempts to rsync is 62.197.40.130, which consistenty refuses connections. Reproducible: Always Actual Results: catcher ~ # emerge --sync -q rsync: failed to connect to 62.197.40.130: Connection refused (111) rsync error: error in socket IO (code 10) at clientserver.c(104) [receiver=2.6.9] >>> Retrying... My locations are spread across 5 different ISP's and the results are identical no matter what source.
Corfirmed dead, no contact info in mirrorstats. :( [04:53:25]<root@echo:~> SYNC="rsync://62.197.40.130/gentoo-portage" e --sync >>> Starting rsync with rsync://62.197.40.130/gentoo-portage... >>> Checking server timestamp ... rsync: failed to connect to 62.197.40.130: Connection refused (111) rsync error: error in socket IO (code 10) at clientserver.c(104) [receiver=2.6.9]
In addition, this one throws up an error of being outdated: rsync://147.32.127.222 -A
Still dead, can we please kill this from DNS? rsync: failed to connect to 62.197.40.130: Connection refused (111) rsync error: error in socket IO (code 10) at clientserver.c(104) [receiver=2.6.9]
There seems to be a reason to this: "As of May 16 2007, we're taking a hiatus from gentoo rsync mirror rotation due to excessive load interfering with other services running on veggie." http://62.197.40.130/ Please please remove this from DNS :)
Removed from DNS. Wasn't even in our ACLs...don't know why it was left in DNS...\ 147.32.127.222 seems okay now. Apologies for the delay on this.
