I just did a spot check on this mirror and it looks like it missed the last update: kurtl@x5 trashme $ rsync -avz 64.246.0.222::gentoo-portage/metadata/timestamp.chk ./ receiving file list ... done timestamp.chk wrote 125 bytes read 141 bytes 532.00 bytes/sec total size is 32 speedup is 0.12 kurtl@x5 trashme $ less timestamp.chk Wed, 02 Apr 2003 00:00:00 +0000 kurtl@x5 trashme $ date -u Wed Apr 2 00:53:15 UTC 2003 Can you please verify that this server is syncing every 30 minutes at *exactly* :00 and :30 intervals? Thanks. --kurt
ok, i changed a few things.. check it again please
not sure what the prob is, maybe the server i'm rsyncing too? cause my cron log files show me syncing at 0,30 rsync://rsync2.de.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage is who i'm syncing too if i need to change please let me know
I added your IP address to the list of mirrors allowed to access rsync1.us.gentoo.org (master rsync mirror) Please update your rsync cron job to point to that server and let's see if that resolves the problem. --kurt
shoot might wanna put .87 as the ip, since 222 is just an alias off the box
ok, changed 64.246.0.222 to 64.246.0.87
so do you know of a verdict yet?
so is it gonna pass or what =)
ok, completed a full rsync without problems. verified timestamp. This server is now rsync8.us.gentoo.org and is part of the namerica rotation. As soon as bug #17216 gets resolved, it will be added to the main rsync rotation. Also, I've added <scooter@vexmedia.net> to the gentoo-mirrors mailing list, which is the low-volume list we use to discuss gentoo mirror issues. (announcements, changes, etc.) Thanks for helping to support gentoo linux.
