5.8.0-r10 works fine for several ppc devs, is this bug still valid ?
For whatever reason, upgrading to the 2.4.20-ppc-r3 kernel took care of this issue (and a couple of others that had been nagging me as well)... I have not investigated whether downgrading to my old 2.4.19 kernel causes the problems to reappear. I can do this in a week or so (e.g. after my final exams) if needed. Otherwise, close the bug. maybe your old kernel had a option set that made it somewhat unstable, closing this bug
