with version 2.2, icecast can't be run as root... the default config file (/etc/icecast2/icecast.xml) need to be change (had the Changeowner Directive which is commented) and the user (icecast for example ..) need to be had to the system

This has been already fixed in 2.3.1-r1, maybe it's time to stabilize it?
