Description Julian W. 2007-07-12 22:56:19 UTC
After switching from 2.6.20-r8 to 2.6.21-r4, my system hangs at an unspecified time, with some acpi messages like "[<c0123456>] acpi_somestring" flowing over the screen: http://i14.tinypic.com/4kbzv3b.jpg
System does not respond, even SysRq commands are not working.
It first occured during module-rebuild after the kernel update, at that time i had some of the new options switched on (High Resolution Timer, etc.).
Then, with the IMO critical options switched off, it happened again during some emerge action.
Then I used make oldconfig with my 2.6.20-r4 config and said No to all the new options... this time I didn't even get to the login shell... it hung shortly before finishing the boot.

I had to switch back to 2.6.20-r4, everything's fine with this one.

It is an Acer Extensa 3000 Laptop. I'll be attaching some output, tell me if something relevant is missing.

Reproducible: Always

/var/log/kernel/current (part of it)

I guess the last line is the last thing the kernel logs before it hangs.

Can you please test with gentoo-sources-2.6.22-r1 ? Thanks.

Alright, no problems with that one so far, .22 seems to work fine again. Thanks.

But maybe .21-r4 shouldn't be marked stable?
