Description OldManRiver 2007-07-11 19:41:28 UTC
Having Multiple Install Failures from Gentoo 2007.0 GTK+ installer.

Button to view log does not work from interface. Could not find with terminal at specified location.

Found bugzilla 178144 explaining where log file is actually located. CAT or GEDIT on file show completely empty file.

Have no way to know or understand installtion failure without working log.

Please correct quickly!

Thanks!

OMR

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install from LiveCD 2007.0
2.
3.

Actual Results:
logfile is empty

Expected Results:
Should see reason for install failure in the log file.

Don't make "random" changes to the bug when you have no idea what they're for.

Without more info, I can't do anything at all. "Multiple Install Failures" tells me absolutely nothing at all. You could at least tell me what step, if there was an error message of any sort, and what your general settings were.

Reopen if you can provide more info

The main purpose of this bug is to make the View Log button work, and to have the gtkfe actually *write* the log and not delete it when it fails.

The button now looks for both an active and a failed log and displays an error if it can't find either.
