Description John D Maunder 2007-07-05 12:22:59 UTC
Using madwifi-ng for wireless network card. Configured kernel to use iptables.
Installed iptables (useing emerge). Machine still runs fine. When starting network card (ifconfig ath0 up) complete machine crash. Runs fine when there is no iptables kernel support. Machine is unresponsive other the power off

Fails when using dhcp, static address and installing the drivers the unofficial way from madwifi site using make and make install

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install madwifi-ng
2. kernel support for iptables and emerge iptables
3. ifconfig ath0 up system crash

Actual Results:
Have to reboot machine using power switch. keyboard unresponsive

Expected Results:
Should be able to use iptables for firewall connection

Fails when using dhcp, static address and installing the drivers the unofficial way from madwifi site using make and make install

Kernel linux-2.6.20-gentoo-r8
madwifi-ng 0.9.3.1
iptables 1.3.5-r4

Note using iptables before using ifconfig ath0 does not crash pc. PC crashes when using ifconfig
