Ok, it works.
When I try to rsync, I get: kurtl@x5 trashme $ rsync -avz 81.23.237.230::gentoo-portage/ ./ Welcome to 81.23.237.230 rsync server located in Amsterdam, The Netherlands ____ _ / ___| ___ _ __ | |_ ___ ___ _ __ _____ ____ ____ __ | | _ / _ \ '_ \| __/ _ \ / _ \ | '__/ _ \ \/ /\ \/ /\ \/ / | |_| | __/ | | | || (_) | (_) | | | | (_) > < > < > < \____|\___|_| |_|\__\___/ \___/ |_| \___/_/\_\/_/\_\/_/\_\ System specifications: AMD Athlon XP 2000+ 1 GB DDR-RAM 2 x 40 GB ATA 133 HDD 2 x 100 Mbit NIC 100 Mbit network connection to Netholding.nl http://www.boxke.be Admin: Thomas Wielfaert (thomas@spacecake-nospam.be) rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (678 bytes read so far) rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(165)
I think it's fixed.
Completed a full sync without errors. The timestamp is current, but two minutes early (19:58 instead of 20:00). Can you confirm that ntp is running? Thanks.
Fixed. ntpdate is now a cron job every hour.
this mirror is now rsync1.nl.gentoo.org. I've added it to the rsync.europe.gentoo.org rotation and will also add it to the main rotation once we're transitioned over to our new DNS system. Additionally, I've subscribed thomas@spacecake.be to our low-volume gentoo-mirrors mailing list, where we announce mirror-related changes, issues, etc. Thanks for helping to support Gentoo Linux.
