This functionality was integrated into >=2.8.0 and therefore I see no reason for this ebuild to remain as no version of Xchat below 2.8.0 exists in the tree. xchat-systray was always a bit buggy also. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:

i'm the mainteiner, i didn't update due to lack of time but gentoo already includes patches as well as other distro. basically it has the away system and few application starter more than the xchat version. in my opinion it's still a bit early to remove it, but you are free to consider if it's worthy or not to keep it.
According to http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=88437 it doesn't look like it's been updated since april 2004.
