Comment 2 Sönke N. Greimann 2007-07-10 15:01:57 UTC
You're using mm-sources, which is known to break stuff, including but not limited to nvidia-drivers.

Try using current ~x86 gentoo-sources (2.6.22) to see if the problem persists.
Comment 3 Andrew 2007-07-11 00:38:25 UTC
Further testing:
booting kernel 2.6.22-rc7 (vanilla): cmake emerges
booting kernel 2.6.22-rc7 with 2.6.22-rc4-mm2 eselected: cmake emerges
booting kernel 2.6.22-rc4-mm2 : cmake emerge fails
(normally the kernel that boots is the one that /usr/src/linux points to)
Comment 4 Marcus D. Hanwell (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-07-17 21:53:22 UTC
It looks like this is more likely a kernel bug with experimental mm-sources. It really doesn't matter where the /usr/src/linux symlink points - the kernel booted is the one selected in grub...
