I have a via 8235 soundcard. I am using alsa. skype-1.4.0.74-r2 outputs its sound to the "surround" channel. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Login to skype 2. Open a call (Skype test call is fine) Actual Results: Audio comes through the rear speakers. Adjusting the "surround" mixer setting directly affects the volume of the call. Expected Results: It should have played through the front speakers. skype-1.4.0.74-r2 alsa-lib 1.0.14_rc3 alsa-headers 1.0.14_rc3 alsa-tools 1.0.14_rc3-r1 kernel 2.6.21-gentoo-r3 (alsa built as modules from kernel config) soundcard is a via 8235 (alsa driver: snd_via82xx) My current workaround is to use headphones plugged into my 5.1 speaker system.
We cannot fix anything there; report this upstream.
