Description Willard Dawson 2007-06-29 01:37:34 UTC
Every attempt to execute mysql-workbench fails, even though the emerge appeared to succeed with no issues. Here's the error message:

The program 'mysql-workbench-bin' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.
  (Details: serial 645 error_code 8 request_code 144 minor_code 5)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

Any hints or suggestions will be much appreciated!

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge dev-db/mysql-gui-tools
2.execute /usr/bin/mysql-workbench-bin

I am experiencing the same error on amd64. I am using the ati X driver. x11-drivers/ati-drivers 8.36.5 -- anything common?
Comment 3 Willard Dawson 2007-08-10 09:35:25 UTC
Perhaps -- I have: x11-drivers/ati-drivers 8.39.4

It is not directly related to the ati-drivers...if they are working well ;-).
Try "fglrxinfo" and have a look. In my case OpenGL was set to Mesa and I was a bit astonished, as I thought the closed source driver is working as before...ok I haven't tested a while and trusted the clean emerge. After some investigations and a remerge of the ati-drivers, some "eselect opengl set ati" tries, etc. a call of "fglrxinfo" also caused a BadMatch Error. So I took a look on Xorg.0.log and found no working dri. In my case the drm was missing in the kernel. After rebuild every thing works well. Please try to reproduce and if it's working at all and you get faced with an GRT related alert, this bug could be marked as fixed, invalid or what ever. To fix the GRT related problems use "unset LANG;unset LC_ALL;mysql-workbench" or ask a search engine you trust. Sorry for unconventional Bug comment, but
1. this "bug" is pretty old
2. you haven't posted in the forum
3. I think I have a solution (got same error, have now a working bench)

I've added patch for this. It's more like a workaround, but it works.
