In gentoo-sources-2.4.20-r2 via 'make menuconfig' when I click upon 'Fusion MPT device support' absolutely nothing happens whereas in vanilla-sources-2.4.20 it gives the following submenu. Fusion MPT (base + ScsiHost) drivers Enhanced SCSI error reporting Fusion MPT misc device (ioctl) driver Fusion MPT LAN driver Is this deliberate or a bug? I don't need these options but felt this should be reported in case erroneous. Also, I'd like to request better documentation of differences between vanilla and gentoo sources other than patches.txt file if at all possible. I'm prepared to do this when I have more time in case you should agree to it. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge gentoo-sources 2. cd /usr/src/linux && make menuconfig 3. Click on Fusion MPT device support Actual Results: Nothing. Expected Results: It should show a submenu on a new page like below. Fusion MPT (base + ScsiHost) drivers Enhanced SCSI error reporting Fusion MPT misc device (ioctl) driver Fusion MPT LAN driver Portage 2.0.47-r10 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.2.2, glibc-2.3.1-r4) ================================================================= System uname: 2.4.20-gentoo-r2 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.66GHz GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.linux.no/ http://ftp.tu-clausthal.de/pub/linux/gentoo/ http://ftp.snt.utwente.nl/pub/os/linux/gentoo/ " CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /var/qmail/control /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/3.1/share/config /usr/share/config" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/env.d" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" USE="x86 oss 3dnow apm avi crypt cups encode gif jpeg libg++ mikmod mmx mpeg ncurses nls pdflib png quicktime spell truetype xml2 xmms xv zlib gtkhtml gdbm berkdb slang readline arts tetex bonobo svga java guile X sdl gpm tcpd pam libwww ssl perl python imlib oggvorbis gnome gtk qt kde motif opengl aalib acpi alsa cdr directfb dvd esd fbcon gtk2 imap mozilla mozinterfaceinfo mozp3p moznoirc moznocompose moznoxft nas sse tcltk tiff usb xml" COMPILER="gcc3" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=pentium4 -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -fprefetch-loop-arrays -falign-functions=4 -funroll-loops -ffast-math -fforce-addr" CXXFLAGS="-march=pentium4 -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -fprefetch-loop-arrays -falign-functions=4 -funroll-loops -ffast-math -fforce-addr" ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" MAKEOPTS="-j3" AUTOCLEAN="yes" SYNC="rsync://rsync.uk.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" FEATURES="sandbox ccache"

i can't reproduce this in gentoo-sources-2.4.20-r2 and it seems to work in gentoo-sources-2.4.20-r3 as well. also seems fine in pfeifer-sources as well. i'd need more info in order to look @ why you get these symptoms. check gentoo-sources-2.4.20-r3 or pfeifer-sources-2.4.20-pre8 and if you get the same symptom, please post your .config. Jay
also, don't forget under SCSI support to put @ least SCSI disk support as a module...
