Why is the jdk of openoffice-bin package a dependancy? I emerged the package just fine with just the jre installed. I usually don't compile java programs so I don't think that the extra 60MBs of disk space that the jdk demands is worth. And the ooffice works with just the jre as it doesn't do any java compiling itself.
Yes, I concur. I have the blackdown-jre installed (1.4.1) - does OpenOffice really need to have the sdk and the sdk docs? I'd love this to be fixed with the OO 1.0.3 ebuild ;)...
where do you see a depend for the docs? try taking doc out of your use flag instead...
Sorry, yes, I had the doc USE flag set. But I do request that the dependency not be on the JDK, but on the JRE (but the JDK would also satisfy the dependency). Thanks.
Maybe a new operator should be introduced in the ebuilds, something that would say that "This package depends on java-jdk or java-jre" and if one of the two is present, then the emerge would continue normally. I don't know if there is already such thing. If there is then it should be used in this ebuild.
