Description Alan Hourihane 2007-06-25 21:50:03 UTC
I'm using the stage3-x86-hardened-2.6-2007.0 to build a new system and this is what I get when performing 'emerge -e system'.

Looking at /etc/make.conf shows that the hardened tarball sets CHOST to
i386-pc-linux-gnu

 * i386 CHOSTs are no longer supported.
 * Chances are you don't actually want/need i386.
 * Please read http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/change-chost.xml

!!! ERROR: sys-libs/glibc-2.5-r3 failed.
Call stack:
  ebuild.sh, line 1631:   Called dyn_setup
  ebuild.sh, line 703:   Called qa_call 'pkg_setup'
  ebuild.sh, line 44:   Called pkg_setup
  glibc-2.5-r3.ebuild, line 1084:   Called die

!!! please fix your CHOST
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, and the call stack if relevant.
!!! A complete build log is located at '/var/tmp/portage/sys-libs/glibc-2.5-r3/temp/build.log'.

Reproducible: Always

I'm sorry, but you either need to use the i686 stages or bootstrap your box w/ CHOST="i486-pc-linux-gnu". You just picked the old stages up, and I'm sorry for that. This is definitely going to be fixed by some new stages in a due time.

bug 165772 might be related.
Comment 3 Alan Hourihane 2007-06-26 17:03:10 UTC
o.k. I guess the -x86- stages need to be removed then, or are you making new -x86- stages with CHOST set to i486 ??

That's what I did last time before I went on my vacation. Just need to do some testing with them in the coming week.

This is going to be fixed with 2007.1.
