I haven't really looked at the package contents for this one yet (was planning 
to do that friday morning), so my question is:  does this thing need to depend
on any emulators? (mame, snes, etc?)

You have to set the path to the binaries and roms for the different emulators in the config file.  In my opinion it doesn't need to depend on the emulators since we don't want to force people to get all the emulators when they just want to use the ones they already have.
