When installing fpc-ide I don't get any documentation. I think I should, really.

The fpc-ide documentation is part of the fpc documentation, which you can install by building fpc with the doc flag. Chapter 6 of the user manual covers the IDE. This is not available as a separate document, sorry.

After installing with 
dev-lang/fpc-2.0.4  USE="doc -source"

I still see no documentation in the ide.

user.pdf is the user manual I mentioned.
