The current layman ebuild for vmware-workstation is version 6.0.0-44426.
This product has expired when using an evaluation license and the new version number is 45731 for x86 and x86_64 per http://www.vmware.com.

Plus, app needs to be started with
VMWARE_USE_SHIPPED_GTK=yes vmware
otherwise accessibility-related errors occur

Dialog box appears saying that the product has expired and a new download is needed

Expected Results:  
Product should install and run

The latest version of vmware-workstation-6 is now in the overlay.  It also requires gtkmm being built with USE="accessibility".  If you have any further problems relating to this issue, please feel free to reopen this bug...  5:)
