Emerging kdebase-3.1.1-r1 failed in the doc dir with libxml2-2.4.26 . Upgrading
to libxml2-2.5.4 solved the problem. The error reported by make was very similar
to that in http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41374 (sorry, I was foolish and
didn't copy the exact error before finding the solution. Also note that this bug
was apparantly fixed by the kde team, and is not the cause of the problem i'm
reporting now.).
I'm not sure what the earliest version of libxml2 that would make the kdebase
compile finish successfully, but I know that 2.5.4 works for me.

OK, I unmasked libxml2-2.5.6 for x86. Should address this bug, at least on x86. powerpc already has 2.5.4 unmasked, so closing this bug.
