Description jim 2003-03-26 11:16:38 UTC
When attempting to attach a file to a kmail email composition, kmail freezes and must
be shut down. I have attempted restarting X as well as my computer, and the same
error still occurs. This may be due to the KDE 3.1.1 upgrade, as it is the first time I
have attempted to attach a file in kmail since the upgrade.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Compose a new email in Kmail
2.Click attach file
3.Kmail freezes
Actual Results:
kmail freezes and must be killed.

Expected Results:
bring up the file attachment dialogue and allow me to attach a file

Try starting Kmail from a terminal (e.g. xterm). When Kmail freezes is anything
interesting logged to the terminal?
Comment 2 jim 2003-03-26 11:54:11 UTC
here is what i got:

kio (KDirWatch): WARNING: KDirWatch::removeDir can't handle ''

Comment 3 jim 2003-03-26 12:02:21 UTC
another interesting side effect is that prior to the error, access to my NTFS
partition works fine (from both CL, console, and KDE) but after the error when i
try to browse the NTFS partition it stalls.
Comment 4 Neil Watson 2003-03-26 18:39:22 UTC
Are you trying to attach a file that is on an NTFS partition?
Comment 5 jim 2003-03-26 19:10:57 UTC
well yes...but it doesnt even get that far (i.e. i couldnt attach a linux partition file
if i wanted) because the little file selection screen never shows up before it
crashes.
Comment 6 Neil Watson 2003-03-27 08:21:16 UTC
Try unmounting the NTFS partition and running without it. Does the problem
persist?
Comment 7 jim 2003-03-27 18:12:24 UTC
mysteriously, the problem doesnt happen anymore, with or without NTFS
mounted. i havent changed any settings though so im not sure if it will come
back...
