Please, don't file 0day bugs (let alone for beta stuff), it's considered pretty rude and also completely unneeded.

There is a skype-1.4.0.74-ebuild in portage now. But it's broken.

1) it still installs the libdbus symlink which is unneeded for skype 1.4.0.74 AFAIK (also see comment #8 from bug 179568)
2) it's broken for USE="static". I get the following errors:

There are separate bugs for the borkage.
