This issue is preventing an emerge of KDE on 1.4rc3 system, as it depends on xpdf, which is in turn building tetex. I'm currently restoring full backups of distfiles. It's ~17 gigs, so it takes a bit of time. Please try again in a few hours.
See the gentoo homepage and use another mirror for the moment. Status: INVALID
I have been using other mirrors, I *did* read the home page and actually had 3 different mirrors than the oregonstate server. If the oregonstate server going down has removed most of the distfiles from the other mirrors then there's something wrong with the mirroring policy.
http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/gentoo/distfiles/ec-ready-mf -tfm.tar.gz is the final download URL attempted suggesting it is the source specified in the ebuild. Hence the duplicate download attempts at www.ibiblio.org (distro.ibiblio.org). As I've understood it, the Gentoo distfiles is a 'cache' not meant to be the original source, and it appears from the answers to the bug report that the oregonstate.edu problem has removed this file off all the mirrors. Wouldn't it be better to have Gentoo original source seperate from the general distfiles? That would permit prioritised restore. And also allow a fall back in cases such as this where the Gentoo Mirror's are failing to deliver, and most things are available from the original sites. oak root # emerge -f tetex Calculating dependencies ...done! >>> emerge (1 of 1) app-text/tetex-1.0.7-r12 to / >>> Downloading http://www.mirror.ac.uk/sites/www.ibiblio.org/gentoo/distfiles/ec-ready-mf-tfm.tar.gz --08:05:47-- http://www.mirror.ac.uk/sites/www.ibiblio.org/gentoo/distfiles/ec-ready-mf-tfm.tar.gz => `/usr/portage/distfiles/ec-ready-mf-tfm.tar.gz' Resolving r5... done. Oregon State didn't do anything. The cleaning script that was run on the master repository (ibiblio and OSU sync directly from the master repository, other mirrors sync from those two) was broken. Yes, SRC_URIs should be elsewhere. That's something the ebuild maintainer needs to fix, though. Full backups finished restoring last night and should be propogating to other mirrors.
Backups finished this morning and all mirrors should have a full repository again within a day.
OK, I have finally got the file, had to load the URL into a browser to defeat caching issues, wget still would get a 404... Thanks for the time, it's unclear now this is 'RESOLVED FIXED' if "Yes, SRC_URIs should be elsewhere. That's something the ebuild maintainer needs to fix, though." means that needs to be submitted as a new BUG.
I'll send it back to bug-wranglers so the maintainer can fix the SRC_URI(s).
bug-wranglers: This ebuild has a nonfunctional SRC_URI, it appears.
please reopen if still fail
