Description Doug Goldstein (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-06-08 15:40:32 UTC
We'll also need to stable app-misc/hal-info. I'll take care of the stabilization for the CC'd arches. But I'd just like some AT to test it and get some more feedback on whether people feel it's ok to stable it on these 3 arches. We know of issues on other arches.

Basically, this version is not without it's issues. However, a lot of the issues with the old version for 99% of users are fixed with this version. But some people may still have a better experience with the old version.

Currently 2.6.21 of the kernel won't work with the old stable version, which is another fact to consider.

Comment 2 Doug Goldstein (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-06-08 19:03:51 UTC
ah crap. I forgot to commit that patch. Thanks for the catch Thomas.
Comment 3 Markus Meier gentoo-dev 2007-06-09 12:28:10 UTC
for the USE="dell" sys-libs/libsmbios-0.13.6 needs a stable keyword, too.

sys-apps/hal-0.5.9-r1 USE="acpi crypt -debug -dell -disk-partition -doc -pcmcia (-selinux)"
on x86, the testsuite fails with the same error like comment 1.

Unfortunately, I've been busy with betelgeuse filing devrel bugs about me and can't do actual development work because these issues are taking up my time.
