Description tarek 2007-06-06 14:29:43 UTC
When upgrading from 1.X series to 2.0.0 tv out (svideo/PAL) went to black and white.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Use version 2.0.0
2.Downgrade to 1.7.4 goes back to colour
3. Tried various screen resolutions and every setting that is even remotely related that can find in xorg.conf to rectify.

Actual Results:
When upgrading to version 2.0.0. randr ignored previous xorg.conf settings eg Monitorlayout, clone etc.....it also defaulted to incorrect video mode. All upgrade issues resolved except black and white issue. Quick google shows this issue unresolved in the wild.

Expected Results:
Colour TV out

There is some info on the web that it may be a PAL, SVIDEO related issue (one guess what I'm using - the same) My TV is NTSC capable, PC BIOS does not have option to change.....randr ignores normal xorg settings so makes it very difficult to override.

An option to disable randr autodection would work around issue for the moment.

Doc on new driver is a bit sketchy...I'm already using undocumented features to fix issues such as force video resolution.

Hardware is Aopen MP945VXR being used as a mythtv box (fluxbox1.0_rc2-r2, xorg 1.2.0-r2)

Is this still an issue with 2.1.0? Please reopen when you reply.

Yes, it is. And also with 2.1.1.

Some additional information:
xorg-x11-7.3, xorg-server-1.4

If the TV is attached at runtime, it is recognized (xrandr prints the possible resolutions), but the output could not be initialized, it flickers some time and returns to black. If the server is started with attached tv, i see my desktop on the screen, but in grayscale. With 1.7.4 everything works fine (same xorg.conf), at least when started with tv attached.
