> rm -f /etc/pear.conf; emerge PEAR-PEAR; emerge PEAR-PhpDocumentor ... still getting the same error. also tried unmerging everything pear related and then rm the conf file and reemerge as suggested.
Noone can reproduce this; as such, closing WORKSFORME (at least until you are able to provide exact steps to trigger this.) Sorry.
