while it'd be nice if our printer documentation covered [print$] and `cupsaddsmb`, i can understand if we dont want to step into that deep water ... we should at least link to this document: http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/CUPS-printing.html
We already cover setting up Samba for cups in quick-samba-howto.xml, as that guide seems like more the appropriate place for it, seeing as it's about setting up Samba, not CUPS. We also link to our printing guide at the beginning of the Samba guide with the following statement: "There are a several other guides for setting up CUPS and/or Samba, please read them as well, as they may tell you things left out of this HOWTO (intentional or otherwise). One such document is the very useful and well written <uri link="/doc/en/printing-howto.xml">Gentoo Printing Guide</uri>, as configuration issues and specific printer setup is not discussed here."
then wouldnt it make sense to scrub most of chapter 6 in the printing howto ? and at the start of the printing howto, refer people to the samba/cups guide ? i setup my samba/cups server earlier today using upstream's docs and i can see stuff already outdated in our samba/cups guide ;)
Thanks for reporting. Added stuff to printing-howto.xml and to quick-samba-howto.xml based on your suggestions from IRC, too. Fixed in CVS.
