net-libs/soup seems to be a leftover from gnome1, as a dependency of an ancient evolution version for gnome1. It already needs patching for gcc4, and has additional compilation problems - at least for alpha arch, probably also others. Nothing depends on it anymore, after gnome1 was removed months ago. Therefore, it is time for this package to go the way the rest of gnome1 went. Package.masking in a second. If this needs to stay for some reason, let us know here.
Sorry, I found following dependencies: solaris dustin # equery depends libsoup [ Searching for packages depending on libsoup... ] app-crypt/seahorse-0.8.1 (>=net-libs/libsoup-2.2) gnome-extra/bug-buddy-2.16.1 (>=net-libs/libsoup-2.2.96) gnome-extra/evolution-data-server-1.8.3-r4 (>=net-libs/libsoup-2.2.90) gnome-extra/evolution-exchange-2.8.3 (>=net-libs/libsoup-2.2.96) gnome-extra/evolution-webcal-2.8.0 (>=net-libs/libsoup-2.2) gnome-extra/gtkhtml-3.12.3 (>=net-libs/libsoup-2.1.6) mail-client/evolution-2.8.3-r2 (>=net-libs/libsoup-2.2.96)
