Description James Ward 2007-06-03 13:55:27 UTC
Liferea keeps waking up the cpu a lot. Someone created a patch to fix this:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/fedora/+source/liferea/+bug/114356

This behavior can be seen by running PowerTOP. On my machine liferea causes the highest number of cpu wakeups.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run liferea
2. Run powertop

Actual Results:
See liferea at the top of the list for highest number of cpu wakeups.

Expected Results:
Liferea has much fewer cpu wakeups.

This specific patch should have been included upstream in 1.2.15, and improved further in 1.2.16 (that will hit the tree soon I suppose).

Version 1.2.16 (Stable)

	* Major code reorganisation to minimize the number
of gettimeofday() calls which caused a lot of CPU
	  activity and wakeups on laptops.

Version 1.2.15 (Stable)

	* Better update result processing timer, should cause
less CPU usage. (patch from Arjan van de Ven)

1.2.16 is in the tree.
