installed versions of kdelibs, R and rkward:

kde-base/kdelibs-3.5.7 (happened with kdelibs-3.5.6-r(something) as well)
dev-lang/R-2.5.0
sci-mathematics/rkward-0.4.7

When installing rkward manually (configure/make/make install), I am able to run the programm (until it crashes, which is probably an upstream bug).

Hi Skander,

Thanks for your report and we will have a look at it. There's
also a new bugfix release that resolves "random crash"
issues which might be what you're seeing in your manual
install.

Best,
Markus
Comment 2 Skander Morgenthaler 2007-05-28 15:35:49 UTC
Hi,

Further investigation suggests that the rkward backend for R is not installed, using the ebuild. Manually running

cd (path to rkward-sources)/rkward/rbackend/rpackages/
/usr/lib/R/bin/R CMD INSTALL -l /usr/lib/R/library rkward

installs the missing backend, so I can run (and later crash) rkward. The 'make install' from manual installation does some temp foo while executing the above commands, don't know if it is important, it worked without on my machine.

The bugfix version (0.4.7a) does not help regarding my crash, I'll try to report that issue upstream though.
Comment 3 Sébastien Fabbro (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-06-01 01:01:17 UTC
I just commited in cvs version 0.4.7a and a small fix that should take care of the problem. Re-open if you still experience it.
Thanks.
