Description Linux Blues 2007-05-23 13:12:03 UTC
According to make.conf man:

PORTAGE_COMPRESS = "bzip2"
    This variable contains the command used to compress documentation during the install phase.

PORTAGE_COMPRESS_FLAGS = "-9"
   This variable contains flags for the PORTAGE_COMPRESS command.

so if you define then in /etc/make.conf euse should understand/ignore them.

Reproducible: Always

How are they defined? They work here portage-2.1.2.7
Comment 2 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-05-23 16:43:13 UTC
Attach your make.conf here, please.

As you see in the 'emerge --info' I've pasted, just between PKGDIR and PORTAGE_RSYNC_OPTS.

Remove the whitespace around the = sign, euse needs make.conf to be sourcable by bash.

Thank you very much, removing whitespaces has solved the issue. I'm awfully sorry for the waste of time I've caused to all of you.
