Note: This happens using both an rc4 and an rc2 install Dell Latitude C800 Linksys PCM100 NIC 1. NIC not detected at boot. 2. Modprobe pcmcia_core, i82365 and ds 3. System shows 2 PCI devices enabled 4. Execute /etc/init.d/pcmcia start 5. System shows cardmgr watching 2 sockets 6. Run ifconfig -a, only dummy shows, not eth0 7. If NIC installed, get one beep, then system hangs 8. If NIC installed prior to running pcmcia start, system hangs when it is run 9. System works fine with other distro installs, tested with SuSe and Redhat Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.See steps above 2. 3. Actual Results: System hangs Expected Results: should locate NIC and allow system to have network access
Should have noted that the same issue happens if using: Xircom PCMCIA 10/100 NIC SOHO Ware PCMCIA 10/100 NIC SOHO WARE 16bit PCMCIA 10/100
I have observed similar symptoms on a Dell Inspiron 8100 using an Orinoco 802.11b card.
