Apologies if this isn't enough info, but when I tried emerging hermes (for
Gnome), I get this error:

#emerge --debug gnome

My platform is Gentoo 1.4rc3 PPC, latest ppc-sources and up-to-date Portage tree.

seems like a bad rsync mirror
