When running Gajim 0.11.1, when I do a "Discover Services" under actions, the message "There is no service at the address you entered, or it is not responding. Check the address and try again." appears; even though I am connected to the server and able to send messages. I can connect with Psi (v0.10-gentoo-r2) and do a service discovery and see the available transports. Since Gajim is a PyGTK app, I'm not sure on how to debug this problem. My Jabber account is provided by my web hosting service, DreamHost. I have also created a Jabber UID for testing by Gentoo Devs and others, gentoo@mattmcadoo.com with a password of 'gentoo' (no quotes). (At the time of this writing, the gentoo@mattmcadoo.com account says Pending Activation on their servers, but should be running by the time this bug is filed.) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Log into Gajim via gentoo@mattmcadoo.com, do a Service Discovery 2. See the error message 3. Log into Psi via gentoo@mattmcadoo.com, do a Service Discovery and see the available transports. Actual Results: Error message, pwned by the server. Expected Results: See the jabber transports available Once the transports are activated by logging into Psi, the activated transports show up in Gajim and connected without issue. It's the "discovery" process for getting working that is a deal breaker. mcadoo@latitude ~ $ emerge --info Portage 2.1.2.7 (default-linux/x86/2006.1/desktop, gcc-4.1.2, glibc-2.5-r2, 2.6.21-suspend2-r2 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.21-suspend2-r2 i686 Genuine Intel(R) CPU T2300 @ 1.66GHz Gentoo Base System release 1.12.10 Timestamp of tree: Mon, 21 May 2007 17:50:01 +0000 ccache version 2.4 [disabled] dev-java/java-config: 1.3.7, 2.0.32 dev-lang/python: 2.4.4-r4 dev-python/pycrypto: 2.0.1-r5 dev-util/ccache: 2.4-r7 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.18.1 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.61 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r2, 1.10 sys-devel/binutils: 2.17 sys-devel/gcc-config: 1.3.16 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.23b virtual/os-headers: 2.6.21 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86 ~x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O3 -g -ggdb -march=prescott -mtune=prescott -msse3 -mmmx -mfpmath=sse -pipe -funroll-all-loops" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/lib/fax /usr/share/X11/xkb /var/spool/fax/etc" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/env.d /etc/env.d/java/ /etc/games/ggz /etc/gconf /etc/php/apache1-php5/ext-active/ /etc/php/apache2-php5/ext-active/ /etc/php/cgi-php5/ext-active/ /etc/php/cli-php5/ext-active/ /etc/revdep-rebuild /etc/terminfo /etc/texmf/web2c" CXXFLAGS="-O3 -g -ggdb -march=prescott -mtune=prescott -msse3 -mmmx -mfpmath=sse -pipe -funroll-all-loops" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="candy distlocks fixpackages loadpolicy metadata-transfer parallel-fetch sandbox sfperms splitdebug strict userfetch userpriv usersandbox" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://distfiles.gentoo.org http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/gentoo" LANG="en_US.utf8" LC_ALL="en_US.utf8" LDFLAGS="-Wl,-O1 -Wl,--enable-new-dtags -Wl,--sort-common" LINGUAS="en en_US" MAKEOPTS="-j5" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_RSYNC_OPTS="--recursive --links --safe-links --perms --times --compress --force --whole-file --delete --delete-after --stats --timeout=180 --exclude=/distfiles --exclude=/local --exclude=/packages --filter=H_**/files/digest-*" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/home/portage" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.namerica.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="X a52 aac aalib acpi alsa apache2 applet artworkextra audacious bash-completion berkdb bitmap-fonts bluetooth bonobo boost branding bzip2 bzlib cairo cdda cddb cdparanoia cdr cgi chm cli corba cracklib crypt cups d dbus debug dell device-mapper disk-partition diskio djvu dmi dmx dri dts dvd dvdnav dvdr dvdread dvi eds elf emboss en encode evdev evo exif extensions extras extrax fam fame ffmpeg firefox flac fontconfig fortran gajim galago gcj gdbm gif gimp glitz gnokii gnome gnutls gpgme gpm grammar gsf gsm gstreamer gtk gtk2 guile hal hardware-carrier hbci ical iconv idle ieee1394 imagemagick imap inkjar ipv6 irda irmc isdnlog jabber jack jack-tmpfs java javascript jingle john joystick jpeg jpeg2k l7static latex lcms ldap libcaca libg++ libgda libnotify libsexy lm_sensors logrotate lzo mad math matroska mbox midi mikmod mjpeg mmx mmxext mng mono mp2 mp3 mpeg mplayer msn mudflap mysql nas ncurses netbeans network networking nfs nptl nptlonly nsplugin obex objc objc++ objc-gc odbc offensive ofx ogg ole openal opengl openmp pango parse-clocks pcmcia pcre pda pdf perl php plotutils plugin plugins png pop postgres ppds pppd python quicktime rar readline real reflection regex rpm rtc rtsp samba sasl scanner sdl sensord session shout skins smime smp sms sndfile snmp sockets sound speex spell spl sse sse2 sse3 ssl stream svg swat sysfs syslog t1lib tcl tcltk tcpd tetex theora thesaurus threads threadsonly tidy tiff tk tordns tracker transmitter trayicon truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts udev unicode usb usb-audio userlocales v4l vim vim-syntax vim-with-x vlm vorbis webdav wifi win32codecs winbind wireless wireshark wma wmf x264 x86 xamin xanim xchatdccserver xforms xhtml xml xml2 xmlreader xmlrpc xorg xosd xpm xprint xscreensaver xsl xv xvid xvmc yahoo zip zlib" ALSA_CARDS="ali5451 als4000 atiixp atiixp-modem bt87x ca0106 cmipci emu10k1 emu10k1x ens1370 ens1371 es1938 es1968 fm801 hda-intel intel8x0 intel8x0m maestro3 trident usb-audio via82xx via82xx-modem ymfpci" ALSA_PCM_PLUGINS="adpcm alaw asym copy dmix dshare dsnoop empty extplug file hooks iec958 ioplug ladspa lfloat linear meter mulaw multi null plug rate route share shm softvol" ELIBC="glibc" INPUT_DEVICES="synaptics evdev joystick mouse keyboard" KERNEL="linux" LCD_DEVICES="bayrad cfontz cfontz633 glk hd44780 lb216 lcdm001 mtxorb ncurses text" LINGUAS="en en_US" USERLAND="GNU" VIDEO_CARDS="i810" Unset: CTARGET, EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS, INSTALL_MASK, PORTAGE_COMPRESS, PORTAGE_COMPRESS_FLAGS, PORTAGE_RSYNC_EXTRA_OPTS, PORTDIR_OVERLAY mcadoo@latitude ~ $ emerge -pv net-im/gajim net-im/psi These are the packages that would be merged, in order: Calculating dependencies ... done! That server seems to use the old discover methods, which were removed from Gajim. You should try using a more up-to-date Jabber server rather than one which uses these old methods. Resolving WONTFIX as it's something which upstream purposely removed, and which they are unwilling to reimplement.
