Description Jens 2007-05-19 14:28:17 UTC
When started, KPowersave prompts that DBUS is not running and recommends /etc/init.d/dbus start, even if DBUS is running ("/etc/init.d/dbus status" says "status: started"), but powersaved is not running.
This happens when a system with already running DBUS emerges sys-power/kpowersave - the powersaved daemon is being installed, but not started, and also not added to default run configuration (I still have to do "rc-update add powersaved default"), so it also doesn't work after a reboot.

On the other hand, it works when KPowersave is running and I say "/etc/init.d/powersaved stop" - now KPowersave prompts that powersaved is not running.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Unload/Quit KPowersave.
2. /etc/init.d/powersaved stop
3. Make sure /etc/init.d/dbus states started.
4. Start kpowersave.
5. Wait. There seems to be a timeout of about 10s. Then the dbus error message appears.
Actual Results:
Misleading error message stating "dbus not running".

Expected Results:
Error message "powersaved not running", just like when I say "/etc/init.d/powersaved stop" when KPowersave is running.

please talk to upstream kpowersave devs about this. Not a Gentoo problem imo despite the init scripts which are from Gentoo ;)

thanks
