If all following is true... - in /etc/conf.d/rc RC_PARALLEL_STARTUP="yes" - autofs is started automatically at startup - you have at least one mount point defined in /etc/autofs/auto.master Autofs messes the startup information as it uses "echo" and "echo -n" instead of "enotify". In parallel startup the screen isn't used just by one script.

New maintainer, net-fs/autofs-5.0.3-r1 is now in the tree.
This is automatically fixed in autofs-5, because it doesn't print out all the mount points at startup anymore.
