And in portage it is:
KEYWORDS="~amd64"

Is there some reason for that?

The current policy specify that we could add keyword for all the architecture where the ebuild is tested. As I did on my amd64 laptop, that was.
I was now able to test on my x86, and so now you can have bitefusion with ~x86.
