Hi, I isntall and configure gentoo 2007 with Xen 3.0.4 avaiable in the protage tree. I have the problem with Windows 2003 Eneterprise Edition as domU. If i give 4 vcpus for such quest after system starts xentop schow that it use almoust all procesor resorces asigned to it (350-400%) even if inside the quest i don't perfrom any operation. When i asign 2 vcpus everything wirk ok... Windows runs, going up and after it the procesor usage in top xen is normal (1-5%). I perform tests on 32bit windos as wel as 64bit windows version. On the 32bit i found osme workeround that seams to work. I install PV drivers packkage form XenExpress 3.2 instalation CD and thenus the new PV option in the boot menu. I also notice (as well for 32bit windows) that if i change the vcpu from 4 to 2 install SP2 for windows 2003 and then back to 4 vcpu the system is hanging while botting (just before che switch from splash to the login screen) and it takes about 300% cpu time in xentop. Even safe mode don't help. But if i conect via vnc to the quest before it run operating system (BIOS screen) and wait until system starts its working but not always. While i notice that 64bit version of Widnows runs better than 32bit version (better disk and network performance) i want to use 64bit.

Is this problem specific to Gentoo, or is it reproducible on Debian/Ubuntu?
(In reply to comment #2) > Is this problem specific to Gentoo, or is it reproducible on Debian/Ubuntu? I only use gentoo so i dont know how its look like on the other distributions. I also check openSuse 10.2 wicth have xen 3.0.3 (from Box) but becouse the SMP Windwos quests are suported since XEN 3.0.4 i don;t have chance to see this problems.
xen 3.1.0 is now in portage, does it resolve this issue?
This issue does not sounds specific to Gentoo. Please reopen if you can reproduce with recent versions of Gentoo in Gentoo, and also contact upstream if you can.
