as subject says, nautilus on gnome startup if font is set to "bitstream vera 7"
I'm attacching nautilus-debug-log.txt in a comment.

(if i change the font setting after nautilus has been started all works ok, until the next restart)

Could you try with other (non Vera) fonts with other small sizes? In any case, I advise you to file a bug in Gnome's bugzilla and paste the url here.

This seems http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454884 , that should be fixed with nautilus-2.20.0-r1
