The "No gcc found" seems to be normal between stage 2 and stage 3 (see bug
#17813)

please
DO NOT EMERGE ANYTHING BESIDE EMERGE SYSTEM (parallel emerge isn't yet supported)
and emerge system should'nt be touched
Comment 2 sf 2003-03-19 16:17:55 UTC
1. Sorry... The first lines of "emerge --info" reads as follows (I messed it up
in the web form):

!!! No gcc found. You probably need to 'source /etc/profile' to update
!!! the environment of this terminal and possibly other terminals also.

2. After bootstrap I emerged (from emerge.log):

1048013979: Started emerge on: Mar 18, 2003 18:59:39

The process stops at sgml-common with the reported error.

What is wrong here? Does dependency resolving not work correctly? There is no parallel emerge process running!!!
Comment 3 Martin Holzer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-03-19 16:23:45 UTC
first of all complete your installation (stage3).
then you could emerge every package you need
