Description Kim Pedersen 2007-05-12 11:44:35 UTC
When setting the time zone in /etc/conf.d/clock only I get this message from date:

ksp@mithrandir ~ $ date
Sat May 12 13:24:51 Local time zone must be set--see zic manual page 2007

Why do I get the Local time zone must be set message when I have set it in the config file (the zic manual page does not reveal much I think)?

Regards
Kim

timezone wont be automatically updated until sys-libs/timezone-data is merged; you'd have to set /etc/localtime yourself until then
Comment 2 Kim Pedersen 2007-05-12 12:18:49 UTC
should this not be written here http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-amd64.xml?part=1&chap=9 or some other place in the install guide? At least as an optional install.
Comment 3 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2007-05-12 12:28:48 UTC
i'm merely giving information about current system; someone else will actually adapt the documentation to match reality

You're right. The initial copy shouldn't have been removed.

Fixed.
