Without it ypbind can start first on a server failing to find the ypserver because it has not started. Scott
More initscript stuff Az
I am not really the one to fix this, as I know next to nothing about ypbind and ypserver. If you are sure, or if Agriffis could have a look ...
Hi, First a clarification. ypbind certainly does not depend on ypserv. Rather ypbind should be configured to contact the server on the network. Sorry if you are already familiar with these concepts, but your bug report doesn't give many details. :-) Check out http://www.linux-nis.org/nis-howto/HOWTO/x227.html for some more information. On the other hand, if your workstation is the NIS server for the network, then you're right that ypserv should be started prior to ypbind. I'll go ahead and make the necessary changes, then I'll update this bug report. Aron
Hi Yes, sorry, I meant that when the host *is* the ypserver (otherwise, why run ypserv?) I do not know if there is an easy way to do this cause if you don't the order is wrong 'ypb' before 'yps'. Scott
Okay, I've fixed this in ypbind-1.11 (note this is also a new version). Let me know if it's still wrong... Thanks, Aron
Great, thanks.
